What Is the FLR Leadership Institute?

The FLR Leadership Institute is a structured, paid internship program for women in recovery or reentry who are ready to step into service and leadership. It is intentionally designed to advance three core outcomes:

Develop Peer Support Skills: Interns receive training in trauma‑informed care, documentation, crisis response, professional boundaries, and evidence‑informed peer support practices.
Build Leadership Capacity: The Institute equips women to grow into supervisory roles, advocacy positions, and certified behavioral‑health careers over time.
Create Economic Opportunity by paying interns for real work, FLR affirms that lived experience is professional expertise and that women deserve pathways to stability, income, and long‑term career growth.

This is not a volunteer program. It is a serious, professional development pathway for women who are ready to lead.

Our Two Service Arms

Recovery Housing

FLR provides safe, stable, trauma‑responsive, faith filled housing for women and women with children in Bernalillo County and Farmington. Our homes support individuals across the full continuum of recovery from active stabilization to long‑term community integration.

Peer Wellness Center

Through our downtown Albuquerque Peer Wellness Center, FLR serves all individuals navigating substance use recovery, reentry from incarceration, and housing instability. Services include peer support, crisis navigation, resource linkage, leadership development, and assertive outreach in the International District and South Valley.

Across both arms, FLR is deeply committed to meeting every person exactly where they are, with dignity, compassion, and peer‑led support.
